Who is Nigel Lythgoe?
Nigel Lythgoe, who was born in Britain, has produced and judged a number of competition shows in the US and the UK. His productions of “Gladiators” (1992–1999), “American Idol” (2002–2014), and “SYTYCD” (2005–2014) are his most well-known works.

American Girl’ contestants accuse Nigel Lythgoe of sexual assault, harassment
According to records obtained by USARTICAL.COM, the Jane Does claimed that after the “All American Girl” finale party, Lythgoe took them to his home in Los Angeles rather than to a studio to meet others.
After arriving at his house, the candidates said Lythgoe “made sexual advances” toward them both, including “pushing her body close to his and attempting to kiss (Jane Doe K.G.).”
The complaint states that the contestants “did not consent to the contact on any occasion.”

Jane Doe K.G. and Jane Doe K.N. claim to have experienced “emotional distress, embarrassment, loss of self-esteem” when it comes to the claimed attack, and they “will continue to incur expenses for medical and psychological treatment, counseling and/or therapy.”
The lawsuit against the women also included the alias Roe Production Company as a defendant for the company’s “failure to maintain a work environment that was free from harm, harassment, assault, battery and/or other unlawful behavior against its employees and agents.” Which production business is being referred to here is unclear.
Paula Abdul, allegations explained
According to Variety and Rolling Stone, Abdul filed a lawsuit against Lythgoe on Friday, ahead of the California Sexual Abuse and Cover-Up Accountability Act deadline.
The singer-dancer said that she was sexually assaulted by Lythgoe in one of the “initial seasons” of “Idol,” where she was a judge for eight seasons beginning in 2002, and again in 2014 while she was hosting “SYTYCD.”
“Not only are (the claims) false, they are deeply offensive to me and to everything I stand for,” Lythgoe stated. “Despite Paula’s well-known history of unpredictable conduct, I find it difficult to see why she would bring a lawsuit that she must be aware is false. But I can assure you that I will use every resource at my disposal to combat this heinous slander.”
Douglas Johnson, Abdul’s attorney, commended Abdul in a statement for her choice to come forward.
“Ms. Abdul knows that she stands both in the shoes and on the shoulders of many other similarly situated survivors, and she is determined to see that justice is done,” Johnson stated.
Abdul’s job on both shows included a non-disclosure agreement that forbade her from publicly revealing “sensitive information.”
She claims in the lawsuit that she chose to keep quiet about the accusations because she thought Lythgoe would take revenge. Additionally, according to Abdul, Lythgoe once called to make fun of her for filing a case since it was “seven years and the statute of limitations had run.”
