(usartical) Cher has petitioned to be appointed temporary conservator of her son’s estate, claiming that the 47-year-old is incapable of managing his assets and may even be endangering his life due to his battles with addiction and mental health disorders.
Elijah Blue Allman is the artist Gregg Allman’s son. The Oscar and Grammy-winning singer and actor filed a motion in Los Angeles Superior Court on Wednesday to get interim control of Elijah Blue Allman’s income.
According to Cher’s appeal, Elijah Allman is qualified to receive recurring payments from a trust fund. However, the petition states that she is “concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will be immediately spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself and putting Elijah’s life at risk” because of “his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues.”
Elijah Allman told The Associated Press over the phone that he was “well, and able, and of sound mind and body.” He was reached through his attorney.
He declined to comment further or to indicate if he intended to oppose the petition.
According to Cher’s request, a conservatorship with a court order is “urgently needed.” A judge set a hearing for January to discuss the matter.
In the filing, control is expressly sought after.
The two are still wed in a formal sense. King filed a document in October stating that although she had not seen him in person for six months, the couple had decided to put the divorce procedures on hold while they worked on their marriage.

According to Cher’s petition, King “is not supportive of Elijah’s recovery,” and the couple’s “tumultuous relationship has been marked by a cycle of drug addiction and mental health crises.”
Email requests for response from Cher’s agents and King’s lawyers did not get back right away.
Chaz Bono, 54, who was married to the late Sonny Bono, and Elijah Allman, a.k.a. P. Exeter Blue, the former guitarist and singer of the band Deadsy, are the two sons that Cher has from each of her marriages.
