During FIFA’s scheduled October international break, the men’s national soccer team of the United States of America will play friendly against Germany and Ghana.
With 19 of the 23 players from the squad that easily defeated Uzbekistan and Oman in the September international window being called into the October camp, coach Gregg Berhalter has kept some continuity in the lineup. After an outstanding weekend with their respective club clubs, a number of players on the squad head into the international break.
The German Bundesliga player Lennard Maloney, a midfielder for FC Heidenheim, is one of the most prominent entrants to the USMNT. Maloney is Heidenheim’s first-ever international call-up.
Germany, the USMNT’s opponent on Saturday, is led by Julian Nagelsmann, a new coach. After Hansi Flick was fired last month, Nagelsmann became the first head coach of the German men’s national team since the job was established in 1926.
