Gloria Trevi, a Mexican pop singer, has sued Sergio Andrade, her former manager and music producer, alleging that Andrade was a “real predator” who used “total control and sadistic abuse” on Trevi and other girls in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

The document also functions as a counterclaim to the Dec. 30, 2022, complaint filed by two Jane Does accusing Trevi and Andrade of “grooming” and “exploiting” them in the early 1990s, when they were between the ages of 13 and 15.Trevi now asserts in the lawsuit, filed Dec. 27 in Los Angeles, that she is one of Andrade’s victims despite having for years flatly refuted such claims.    Gloria Trevi Sues Ex-Manager Sergio Andrade With Graphic Claims of Abuse                                                                                                                                                                                                     Trevi’s lawsuit claims that Andrade exploited his reputation as a wealthy music executive—often referred to as “Mr. Midas”—by identifying and promoting up-and-coming female musicians and making promises to make them famous.”That position allowed him to draw many young girls into his sphere of influence,                                                                                                                                                who gathered around him in the hopes that he would guide, mentor, and launch their careers in entertainment, as he had previously done for others,” the complaint states. However, after luring these young ladies and girls into his orbit with promises of fame, he cruelly mistreated them on all fronts, controlling them mentally, financially, physically, and sexually. One of those young women was Ms. Trevi.

Trevi’s lawsuit claims that when she was starting to become well-known in Mexico as a singer, the “Todos Me Miran” singer met Andrade when she was young and he quickly took over her career. “But Andrade also recognized Ms. Trevi as an isolated and vulnerable girl who was easy prey to his manipulation, control, and abuse,” according to the lawsuit. “He took full advantage, subjecting the rising child superstar that he had taken on to grotesque abuse calculated to break her spirit.”

The complaint included explicit claims that Andrade sexually attacked Trevi and repeatedly raped her, including that she was “brutally beaten” by him until she lost consciousness. According to the lawsuit, Andrade’s abuse “eventually drove Ms. Trevi to attempt suicide.”

In a statement to Billboard, Trevi—who is being defended by Camille M. Vásquez, the former lawyer for Johnny Depp—explained that she decided to pursue legal action in order to fight for justice. “No one should have to go through what I experienced and I am determined to hold the perpetrators accountable for their actions,” she said.Gloria Trevi Sues Her Former Manager and Producer Sergio Andrade for Sexual Abuse

“Our client, Gloria Trevi, has demonstrated great strength and courage in coming forward and filing this counterclaim,” Vásquez continued. We are ready to make our case and fight for justice on her behalf.

More than two decades have passed since Trevi, Andrade, and backup vocalist María Raquenel Portillo, popularly known as Mary Boquitas, were detained in Rio de Janeiro in January 2000 on suspicion of enticing young girls into a pornographic ring with cult-like tendencies. Now, Trevi is facing new legal issues. In her criminal complaint against the so-called “Trevi-Andrade clan,” former vocalist Karina Yapor said that backup recruits who wished to join the band were coerced into having sex with Andrade.Gloria Trevi Sues Former Manager Sergio Andrade Alleging ‘Grotesque Abuse'

A judge cleared Trevi in 2004 after finding him not guilty of allegations including rape, kidnapping, and corruption of minors. Trevi’s release from Chihuahua, Mexico’s prison was consequent to this.

Six days after a judge rejected Portillo’s defamation case against the two Jane Does following her lawsuit, Trevi filed a new lawsuit.
