(usartical) Fans of Taylor Swift are being urged by animal shelters to give back on the singer’s 34th birthday since it is the season of giving.
In honor of the musician’s 34th birthday, which falls on December 13, a number of animal shelters have launched the Taylor Swift Challenge in an effort to raise funds for animal rescues. Animal-loving Swifties are urged to donate $13 to a nearby rescue or shelter in order to participate in the challenge.
The amount donated is a reference to one of Swift’s all-time favorite numbers. Furthermore, the singer-songwriter’s love of animals is no secret. Three cats, including Benjamin Button, whom she took to her Time 2023 Person of the Year picture shoot after adopting him from her “ME!” music video set in 2019, are under her care.
The #TaylorSwiftChallenge was launched by the Pennsylvania SPCA following a “tough year, with adoptions slowing dramatically and owner surrenders,” according to a statement that PEOPLE was able to receive.
