The 33-year-old star made headlines when she appeared for the magazine’s February cover story, promoting her new lesbian romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding, by sticking her hand under her jockstrap. On Monday’s edition of The Late Show, Stewart caught up with Stephen Colbert and addressed the unfavorable comments, but not before Colbert revealed a network instruction to the viewers.

It’s kind of ironic, as I feel like I’ve seen a lot of covers with male pubic hair,” she remarked. “I’ve noticed a lot of hands that are unbuttoned and in jeans. For those who are sexist and homophobic, I believe there is a certain overt acknowledgment of a feminine sexuality with free will that irritates them.”
Colbert remarked, “I’ve definitely seen more revealing covers on Rolling Stone or Sports Illustrated, for that matter.””Yes, it’s not even close to being explicit,” Stewart stated.
Colbert said, “I think it also violates public expectations of female sexuality as opposed to how you’re presenting it here.”Stewart answered, “Yes, because female sexuality isn’t supposed to actually want anything other than to be had.” And it feels like it sticks out in a way that could irritate you. However, f— you.” Cunningly, she said, “But I never will!”
