The 43-year-old comedian- and actress, who portrayed Lucy in the beloved CBS sitcom, disclosed her diagnosis from the hospital in a video that she uploaded to TikTok on Saturday. She had already undergone surgery to remove the illness.
“Hey everyone, this is a ‘Sick Tok,’ not a TikTok,” she exclaimed. “The reason I’m in the hospital is that I had surgery yesterday to treat lung cancer.” They discovered it quite early.”It’s quite strange, as I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life, so it was unexpected,” Micucci remarked. “But it also happens, I suppose, and the best news is they found it early and fixed it, so I’m fine.” About one in five cancer deaths in the US are caused by lung cancer,
making it the leading cause of cancer-rela
ted mortality. It is possible for someone who has never smoked to be diagnosed with lung cancer, despite the fact that smoking is by far the primary cause of the disease.
The American Cancer Society states that exposure to radon, secondhand smoke, air pollution, and other factors can result in lung cancer in nonsmokers.
Seventy percent of people with lung cancer who receive an early diagnosis survive for at least five years. The long-term survival rate for lung cancer is as low as 5% once it has spread to other body areas.
Micucci stated, “It’s been a little bit of a trip and [I’ll] probably be moving slow for a few weeks but then I’ll be back at it,” and she expressed her eagerness to resume painting.
She gave a thumbs up and joked, “Why am I still talking? Because I’m on drugs!”
A video of Micucci wheeling her IV drip and strolling slowly through the hospital in her gown was also included on the site.
The celebrity responded to a fan who questioned whether she had any symptoms that prompted her to visit a doctor in the comments section.
She said, “I had one thing in my bloodwork that came back really high,” adding later that she had elevated CRP levels, which indicated a high degree of inflammation. I visited a preventive physician, who performed several scans. The spot in my lung was discovered when he examined my heart.
