Interoduction This weekend marks the return of what is regarded as the largest 26.2-mile marathon event in the world, with tens of thousands of marathon runners taking to the streets of New York City. And will demonstrate their capability on the streets of New York
At 8 a.m. on Sunday, the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon gets underway. An anticipated 50,000 runners are anticipated to start from Staten Island and make their way through all five of the city’s boroughs. (Daylight saving time ends that morning as well). And at some places people will stand to watch them.
The Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge marks the start of the race, and Central Park West Drive and 67th Street mark its finish. There will be significant road closures, some rolling and others not. View the course map and the complete list of closures below.
A total of 47,839 individuals finished the marathon last year. The average race time, according to the New York Road Runners, was 4 hours, 50 minutes, and 26 seconds.
A uncommon sight for marathon participants and onlookers alike will be a rain-free weekend. This weekend’s forecast is the first without any precipitation in eight consecutive weekends. With lots of sun streaming through clouds, morning temperatures will be in the low 50s and will rise into the low 60s in the afternoon.
Except for the first few miles of the 26.2-mile course, spectators can watch the race from practically anyplace. From mile 3 to mile 26, fans can follow the marathon course.
Additionally, tickets are offered to view the runners from Central Park’s grandstands as they cross the finish line.
