Sandra Bullock’s longtime companion of eight years, photographer Bryan Randall, passed away in August of last year at the age of fifty-seven after a private three-year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). ALS is a motor neuron disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, controlling voluntary muscle movement.
“Bryan chose early to keep his journey with ALS private and those of us who cared for him did our best to honor his request,” stated Randall’s family following his passing. The family expressed immense gratitude to the dedicated doctors and nurses who supported them throughout Bryan’s illness.
Before requesting solitude to grieve, they added, “We are immensely grateful to the tireless doctors who navigated the landscape of this illness with us and to the astounding nurses who became our roommates, often sacrificing their own families to be with ours.”
