After her former company sold the master recordings to her first six albums in 2019, the singer released the album, which was initially recorded and released in 2014, at midnight on Friday. This was her fourth re-recorded offering.

Swift said on Instagram, “I give to you, with gratitude and awe, my version of 1989. I was born in 1989, reinvented for the first time in 2014, and a part of me was regained in 2023 with the re-release of this album I love so much.” She said, ”

Five never-before-heard songs, dubbed “From The Vault” tracks that she has released with every “Taylor’s Version” album, are included on the album. They are “S—,” “Don’t Say Go,” “Now That We Don’t Talk,” “Suburban Legends,” and “Is It Over Now?”

During a performance in August as part of her “Eras Tour,” Swift said that “1989” would be her next album to be released with new recordings. Because of the “insane” vault recordings, Swift said in a social media post at the time of her announcement that the album was her “most favorite re-record” to date.

Reimagined versions of Swift’s smash songs “Shake it Off,” “Bad Blood,” and “Blank Space” may be found on “1989 (Taylor’s Version),” which is arguably her most well-known album. All three of these songs peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

The album is regarded as Swift’s first effort that firmly belongs in the pop category; she had previously put out several country-pop albums.

“1989” proceeded to garner ten Grammy nominations in 2016, with Swift winning three awards for best pop vocal album, album of the year, and best music video for her song “Bad Blood.”

She first announced in 2019 that she intended to re-record her first six albums, and in addition to 1989, she has since released “Taylor’s Version” albums for “Red,” “Speak Now,” and “Fearless.”

The singer is anticipated to rerecord both her 2006 self-titled debut album, “Taylor Swift,” and her 2018 album “Reputation” at some time.
