Black Christmas
Are you missing Halloween? With this still-seasonally-appropriate slasher film, relive the bloody days. The terrifying 1974 horror classic centers on a group of sorority members who, after receiving a string of unsettling phone calls, become the victims of gruesome murders during Christmas break. Although the original holds a particular place in our hearts, the remakes are equally as jump-scare-filled. So watch the 2019 version and the 2006 adaption for even more Christmas carnage.
A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas
In their third big-screen adventure, Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn), everyone’s favorite stoner besties, try to avert holiday catastrophe after years of estrangement. The 2011 cult Christmas film features heartwarming moments of camaraderie mixed in with all the wild, irreverent humor that fans have come to anticipate from the pair. Miller) and his colleagues at a software company that specializes in computing set out on a less-than-stellar mission to organize a memorable office Christmas party in order to win over a client who could save their jobs.
A Bad Moms Christmas
Reuniting as a rebellious trio of mothers, Mila Kunis, Kathryn Hahn, and Kristen Bell reveal that their mothers are paying them a visit for Christmas, which is not exactly a joyful surprise. In the energetic 2017 follow-up, Susan Sarandon, Christine Baranski, and Cheryl Hines all join in on the fun with hilarious anecdotes and wisecracks.
Bad Santa
This 2003 dark comedy, starring Billy Bob Thornton, requires a predisposition for crude humor. It centers on an alcoholic scammer named Willie, who pretends to be a mall Santa and plans to loot the businesses on Christmas Eve with his accomplice, Marcus (Tony Cox). But when Willie runs across Sue (Lauren Graham) and “The Kid” (Brett Kelly) with the advent calendar, all of his plans are thwarted. If you’re sick of fake holiday happiness and need a little pick-me up, this is the ideal treat. You’ll surely want to see Willie again in the 2016 sequel if you liked his first trip.
