(usartical) The 28-year-old safety for the Green Bay Packers and his wife, who just happened to become the most decorated gymnast in history, discussed how they first connected on the most recent episode of The Pivot podcast. She even revealed that she was the one who contacted out.
Jonathan Owens got to know Simone Biles as a person before she became a gymnast, in contrast to most others. “How in the hell did you pull Simone Biles?” co-host Channing Crowder questioned Owens, stating he “didn’t know who she was” when they first met in 2020 after meeting on the Raya dating app.
“Lemme see who this is,” I thought to myself. It caught my eye because I’ve never really paid attention to gymnastics,” the NFL player stated.

He soon discovered that 26-year-old Biles was more well-known than he had thought. “She just had a ton of [Instagram] followers, and that was the first thing I saw. Thus, I’m thinking, ‘Well, she must be decent,'” Owens stated in the show.
With reference to Biles’s widespread fame, Owens clarified that he might not have known who she was at first by saying, “When she won the Olympics, I was in college and we didn’t have NBC, we didn’t have Olympics channels, and we were in [training] camp [in] late July, early August.”
“I’m not listening, then. I never would have watched [her compete] for even a moment,” he continued.
Her initial reply to him resulted in them “texting back and forth” before meeting up for the first time three days later, according to Owens.
“We were unable to take any action because COVID-19 occurred and all activities were suspended,” the football player, who was then a member of the Houston Texans, stated. “So she descended to On April 22, 2023, the pair exchanged vows in the Harris County Courthouse in Houston. They threw a second wedding ceremony in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, a few weeks later.

After the podcast episode debuted, Owens appeared to address criticism of his remarks in an Instagram post on Thursday night.
